The experience is in the hospitality.
I sometimes think about the beatitudes where Christ speaks about the blessed. But the blessed He refers too, we often see as losers. The poor in spirit, those who mourn, the meek, those who are hungry, the persecuted. These descriptions are conditions of the spirit of persons who most often we want to pat on the head and move away from. And Christ refers to these conditions as being in a position of blessedness, why? Many do not see things this way, rather we want to run away from uncomfortable situations and ineptness. What does Christ see that we do not? What Christ see's is an opportunity for us perhaps to give and show compassion and understanding or courtesy. An opportunity to stretch and exercise our kindness muscles, or humility perhaps or as it is written in 2 Corinthians 12:9 "My grace is sufficient in your weaknesses."
The next time you want to judge a person for not being as smart or evolved as you are, think that they might just enjoy the experience of what you think they are not worthy of. We too, often are very hard on family members, colleagues, we can be judgmental of the homeless, many are cruel to gay persons. There often seems a reason to pass comment when we have not fully understood the person, and situation well enough to even judge others which none of us have been given to the job to do, and our ignorance make matters worst by what we say and do. Whatever you witness others' experience in life, assist the situation by making it the best experience possible for them by doing all in your power to make the situation supportive and understanding, hopeful, and of non-judgment. Do not attack, hurt, or join the herd mentality. Defend the weak, the underdog. Where there is lack and inexperience, fill with your successful experience & the love of Christ. Help anyone enjoy their experiences of lack- by the hospitality of your affirming love and respect no matter how poor in spirit they are. The poor in spirit is lacking in soul strength, they feel temporarily weak, in an area of their life which they cannot help themselves out. Perhaps they need a good word simply and they have not heard any nice comments lately. Here is where you and I step in and help. Christ calls them blessed, here too many times we have stepped in to curse. Let's do our part to be hospitable always as much as it depends on us.
"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 5:3
Thank u for the word
